| El español Jaume Munar y la egipcia Mayar Sherif son los ganadores del AnyTech365 Andalucía Open. Ambos tenistas se convierten así en los campeones del torneo marbellí que por primera vez acogía un evento combinado entre hombres y mujeres. Los dos jugadores completan una semana impecable donde no han cedido ni un solo set para levantar el trofeo este domingo en las pistas de Puente Romano. El balear Jaume Munar conseguía finalmente proclamarse campeón del torneo tras haber jugado sus cuatro últimas finales de forma consecutiva. Una victoria que suma a su palmarés y que le otorga 125 puntos en la clasificación ATP; una buena inyección de moral de cara a la gira de tierra europea que se celebrará en este continente durante toda la primavera. La final se cerraba con doble 6-2 en el marcador para el sexto cabeza de serie. Su rival, el argentino Pedro Cachín, se había convertido en la “sorpresa” del cuadro tras acceder al mismo como “alternate” y acabar con las esperanzas de rivales de la talla de Pablo Andujar, Philipp Kohlschreiber o Dominc Thiem en jornadas anteriores. Con un juego sólido y una entrega física encomiable, el de Santañí lograba controlar la potencia de su rival y hacer estallar de júbilo al público local. Por su parte, la egipcia Mayar Sherif (3) inscribía su nombre en la historia del torneo andaluz al proclamarse campeona. Marbella acogía por primera vez un cuadro femenino individual, en un evento pionero para el circuito ATP y WTA en categoría 125. La norteafricana se imponía a la alemana Tamara Korpatsch en dos sets. El partido, que abría la última jornada del torneo, ofrecía un igualado duelo entre ambas jugadoras, donde la germánica, revelación del torneo tras acceder al cuadro como ‘alternate’, vendía cara su derrota. Un primer set que se prolongaba durante más de 70 minutos y se resolvía en el tiebreak, daba paso a un segundo que parecía más encarrilado para la tercera favorita, pero Korpatsch seguía presentando resistencia hasta ceder finalmente por 6-4. El palmarés de Sherif cuenta con un nuevo título que se suma al logrado el pasado mes de septiembre en el WTA 125 de Karlsruhe. Un nuevo hito para una tenista pionera de este deporte en su país. El AnyTech365 Andalucía Open cierra de este modo una edición histórica en lo deportivo que ha contado con un fuerte respaldo social e institucional. Both players thus become the champions of the Marbella tournament, which for the first time hosted a combined men’s and women’s event.
