El gijonés se mostró muy sólido con su servicio y no cedió ni una sola bola de break ante su rival. Carreño se planta en semifinales sin perder un set y mostrando una confianza en su juego que crece día tras día en Puente Romano. El número 15 del mundo consigue así su mejor resultado personal de la temporada en este arranque de la gira de tierra europea. Su rival por un puesto en la final será el cabeza de serie número 4, Albert Ramos Viñolas. El barcelonés tuvo una dura y trabajada victoria frente al eslovaco Norbert Gombos. Un triunfo que consolida su buen momento tras lograr final y semifinal en Córdoba y Buenos Aires respectivamente en la gira sudamericana. El partido arrancó favorable para Ramos que dominaba 4-2, cuando tuvo que suspenderse momentáneamente debido a la lluvia que caía en ese momento. CARLOS ALCARAZ, SEMIFINALISTA MÁS JOVEN DE LA ATP DESDE 2014 El español Carlos Alcaraz fue el encargado de cerrar la jornada con otra victoria de prestigio ante el cabeza de serie número 3, el noruego Casper Ruud, por 6-2 y 6-4. Su paso a las semifinales le convierten en el jugador más joven en lograrlo en el circuito ATP desde Alexander Zverev en Hamburgo 2014 y el español más joven desde Nadal en Auckland 2004. El actual número 133 del mundo mostró una gran potencia y variedad de golpes que le llevaron a eliminar a un nuevo favorito, tras haberse impuesto en la jornada del jueves a Feliciano López (6). El duelo para acceder a la lucha por el trofeo será ante el también español Jaume Munar. El balear conseguía derrotar al bielorruso Ilya Ivashka.
